  Research and Conservation

The team at the Australian Wildlife Health Centre also have the important responsibility of providing veterinary support for endangered species breeding programs that Healesville Sanctuary is involved in.

Our veterinarians provide care for two of Australia's most endangered birds - the Helmeted Honeyeater and Orange-bellied Parrot. Veterinarians perform work critical to these conservation programs such as pre-release medical checks and attaching transmitters so that they can be tracked and monitored in the wild.
