  Vet Nurse Gerry

Wildlife Vet Nurses often come from a domestic animal background, but a lot of what they know about dogs and cats can be transferred to wildlife care.

Vet Nurse Gerry studied Biological Science, then Veterinary Nursing and then did a DELTA CGC course which helps train dogs to be good citizens.  “I am really interested in the behavioural aspects of all species and what I learnt in my dog training course has definitely helped me to ‘read’ the body language of wild animals, especially when they come into the alien environment such as a hospital.  I hope that I can make them feel more secure and calm, which also benefits their recovery."

Gerry has a love of the outdoors and nature.  “I think we are so lucky in Australia with such an incredible diversity of animals and plants.  If I didn’t make caring for animals my career, I would have concentrated on the conservation of the environment.”
